“Feast on His
Words”

Studying the scriptures is one of
the great keys to spiritual success, and somehow, we must learn to love them.
Learning to love the scriptures is
no different from learning to love anything else. We must practice, practice,
practice, and then practice some more. Never would we attempt to play in a
major sports championship, or play an instrument in a recital, without having
practiced many hours. Yet, many feel they can unlock the excitement and beauty
of the scriptures by reviewing them for a few minutes a week. It doesn’t work
that way.
Of course, snacking is better than
starving, but the Lord reminds us to “feast on his words.” Then, we savor them,
digest them; they become a part of us and give life.
